Working on a project that involves use of two PC's out on the shop floor in a CNC department. As you have probably already guessed Computers + hot+ cold + humidity + grease + oil= fried computers. I've been given a budget of 300$ for some kind of computer enclosure, preferebly for the monitor and keyboard. cheapest I've found so far was 650$. I doubt that 300$ would get much, but I figure if it's out there someone on tek tips would know. Thanks for the help!

That probably will buy one cabinet for one computer.

Do a google search for rack mount enclosures.

Oops, I meant 300$ per enclosure! Tried rack mount and found one for 540$ and others said call for price, but that was still 240$ more than I can spend. Doesn't have to be anything fancy either. Thanks for suggesting Rack mount!

That probably is standard for shop floors. You could try JDR for their stuff , or look for processor.com, a monthly magazine that is nothing but ads for computer stuff.

Ususal is to have a 72" cabinet and rack mount enclosure, keyboard drawer, and enclosed video cabinet. Everything sealed but ventilated through filters.

In your case , probably 2 cabinets for computers and an additional keyboard drawer to hold a KVM switch.

And take a nitro pill under the tongue before you price the 72" racks.

I'm sure these guys are probably out of your price range.

For your budget you will probably have to build your own.
What kind of machine shop is it?
Do you have any skilled machinists around?

It is a big manufacturing company and we do have our own tool room that could make the cabinets, but with projects in the past I'm guessing that it would cost more than 300$
