Hi,

I am the head of IT for a K12 school district. We have a mature network which services our students quite well. We provide all students from sixth grade up with network accounts, roaming profiles and folder redirections. Life is good.

I now am looking to expand our student services to include some sort of access to our network from their home. I first though about putting up a couple terminal servers and letting them use them to log into their accounts. I am concerned that this will cause lots of support issues, not to mention licensing problems.

What I need is some sort of browser based solution. I need something that will let students log in with a browser and access their network accounts.

Can anyone recommend a solution? Has anyone ever done something like this that can relate their experiences?

Thanks,

Jon

Any Terminal Service is the way to go. Support issues are tied down to the terminal server. ie. You only need to update programs, patchs etc on the server....

The way we did it, was to remotly VPN into the network through an W2000 ISA server (in our case), and then open a MS terminal session once on the LAN. This also cuts down on bandwidth for those with dialup.

never had the chance to use Citrix.

regards
Allen
