Need advice with Cisco Tech

Hi guys, looking for some advice, I want to get started with cisco technology, but I don’t know where to start, what books do you recommend, since training is not an option (to expensive) what are the basics to start? I know about networks an OS since I a have a BSCS (if it helps you in were I stand) and right now, I don’t have access to any equipment.

Any suggestion is welcome.

Training doesn't have to be too expensive. Lots of local community colleges have the Cisco Networking Academy program. I attended for 1 year and it cost me a total of around $700 books and all. And they won't make you pay all of it up front, I did a payment plan. I thought it was an excellent program!
Anyways, all the Cisco Press books are good, though a little dry, I've yet to read any others...

Thanks Matt, but I live in Mexico, and its a little more expensive here, and since the company that i work for doesn't offer any training. Thats one of the reasons that im leaving the company. But well. Can anyone tell me something about "Cisco: A beginners guide" by Shaughnessy ??

No clue about that book, my recomendation is you grab Todd Lamlees' CCNA study Guide as a starting point. I would also say r1r2.com is a good website to hit. They used to be free suspect they still are, had a two router lab you could telnet into and play with commands.
I believe the username and password are cisco, unless they changed them again.
