Hello All-

I'd like a digital video recorder's (DVR) video streams sitting behind a Cisco 1761 router (from site B)to be able to go over a T1 connection to another Cisco 1761 Router (to site A) where it will be seen on a desktop pc using specific "remote view software" as supplied by the vendor. The DVR vendor also told me this can be accomplished by opening port 18772 for both TCP/UDP on the 1761 router's.. I assume I'll accomplish this using an access-list? Just not sure how to write these lists.. Also wondering if I will need to write these access-lists on both router's A and B.. Anyone care to take a stab at this? I have ideas, just need to right solution in an access-list to permit this type of traffic for both TCP and UDP on port 18772..

thx so much for any help

let me take a shot at this one, with no access list in place the app will work. i don't use ac on point to point, simple configs are easy to maitain. if your running over a multi user net then you need ac and they are not generally considered enough. by default all ports/traffic follow your routes. show ip route, show cdp. you should see enough to know if your config is right.. jp ccan (cisco certified absolutly nothing)

thanks John Poole-

I appreciate the info.. Hey, I had a another inquiry here.. I didn't initially purchase the 1761 Cisco routers but ended up configuring them... well, my predecessor that DID order the routers also ordered/installed WIC cards on the front of one of the router slots.. It is a 4 port WIC card.. Just curious to know what the true functionality of this card is.. I'm assuming I could connect my DVR to one of these ports?? Since theres no cisco or any other SWITCH involved here the DVR is going to have to communicate thru the router some how.. This 4 port slotted WIC card should be assumingly be used for this functionality.. no? If so, would it be a cross-over cable.. The DVR is literally an enhanced Windows 2K Pro pc with standard IDE drives and DVR app software on it.. it has a NIC card.. so I'm thinking a crossover from it's NIC card to one of the 4 ports on the 1761's WIC card should allow this?? Am I totally off here?

Also if this is the case, would I need to make my router a DHCP server as well to lease an address to this DVR, or I could just set it up with a static following in the same range that my f0/0 (fast ethernet) port is setup as.. again, these are assumptions..

Any help would be greatly appreciated..
