Hi !
I'm using NDPS 3.0 on NW 5.1 SP5 and I have problems
with Win 2k/XP drivers for HP LaserJet 4200.

If I dowload the latest XP driver from HP (60.03.14.02)and load that
into my broker and then distribute this driver to my XP Pro SP1 workstations I get an error message in spoolsv.exe.

Error: "SPOOLSV.EXE. Exception: access violation (0xc0000005)"

I have installed the latest SP2 for NW Client 4.83 but
this will not resolve my problem.

I have now used the NT 4.0 driver as a workaround but this
is not so good since the driver is not signed.

Has anyone seen this problem and found any solution ?

Regards
Lars-Gunnar

Are you using the PCL6 version of the driver?

"It's true, its damn true!"

I have use both PCL6 and PCL5e drivers with the same result.
The NT 4.0 driver is using PCL 5e.

Thanx for the tip but it will not solve my problem.
My PC's are newly installed and therefore I don't have
any .SHD or .SPL files in the spool directory.
The same is true for the temp directory, it's empty.

Any other tip ?

Try TID 2965005. It's solved a bunch of NDPS and SPOOLSV problems for us.

Try Novell TID 10083965

Havent heard anything from HP though.

These drivers dont fix it. Post Script still doesnt work either.

What version of NDPS are u running?

In my own network at home, my wife was having a similar issue. Other identical machines didn't have the problem. Printer is an HP 4000. Clients are winXP with Novell client 4.83. Identical hardware platform.

She is the type to load all types of crap on her system (utilities, file sharing, freeware, shareware, screensavers, weather alerts, etc).

Since she is the only one that had the problem, I am guessing that there was some kind of conflict between the printing system and one of the programs she had loaded. When I was trying to fix it, i found several other problems, and also so much spyware and other stuff that it's no wonder it was broke.

We ended up wiping the system and starting over with a clean install and haven't had the problem since. Once again, the problem has not appeared on any other system.

I've also tried the drivers "Struggle" suggested but it won't help in my case.

I'm running NDPS Broker 3.00e and NDPS Manager 3.00f.
I'm also running ZEN 4.0 agent.

Right now I'm using the NT4 drivers for printers HP 4200 and 4300.
