I know the index has to be stored on the networker server, via tape or a filetype device. Am I wrong in thinking that normal indexes go into the /nsr/index path? And if so, are NDMP indexes done differently to make them so large?

I did NDMP backups of our Celerra for about 30 days and the index size of the filetype device I was using got up to around 30 GB. This can't be the same for normal backups, because our networker server backs up almost 300 clients and we dont have that much space. Is this an NDMP thing? If so, why?

I do not have actual real-world experience on how big the difference of an NDMP save set is but ....

NDMP indexes must be different as there is no save/uasm command which
can create them. Actually, the data must be retrieved from the filer and
must be translated.
