Just started backing up NDMP client and have a question regarding the NDMP catalog entries. The tape drive is directly connected so the thoughput is around 15000KBps. This is great except for the fact that the backup I am performing is very large (470gig) and has tons of small data files (Millions). The backup stalled last night and I've seen many of the following msgs in the bptm log:
15:09:00.732 [7445] <2> write_data_ndmp: dir info came in, 2572879 total dirs
15:09:00.732 [7445] <2> write_data_ndmp: node info came in, 2525996 total nodes
15:09:02.295 [7445] <2> write_data_ndmp: dir info came in, 2573881 total dirs
15:09:02.295 [7445] <2> write_data_ndmp: node info came in, 2526997 total nodes
Is this my catalog attempting to catch up with the backup. These messages are constant while the backup is running and then all of a sudden they stopped and my backup's throughput dropped to around 681KBps (Ugly).
I may just try and attempt to break the backup out into smaller backups. It started slowing down at around 300gig. Thanks in advance for any input regarding this matter!
