The way I understand it, with NDMP you cannot do an incremental backup by setting the backup to incremental. The only way to do it is to get level backups. All of our rotations now are a full one day of the week and incrementals the rest. Could someone who has worked it before give me a 7 day example of how they have it set up to do the incrementals using level backups?

Right now I have it as:

Sat Sun Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri
Full 6 7 5 6 7 8

The way I understand it, I'll get a Full on Saturday, an incremental of everything changed on Sun, an incr of everything changed since Sun on Mon, on Tue, an incr of everything changed since Sat (I did this to speed up recovery time just a bit), wed is incr everything changed since Tue...and like that until the next full on saturday.

Does anyone see any issues with this or something that should be changed?

Thanks for any advice and help.

Level backups include files until, going back in time, you
hit the next lower number.

So, to get incrementals, you must have an "incrementing"
pattern.
You schedule is almost done. Simply start like this:

Sat Sun Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri
f 1 2 3 4 5 6

The numbers really do not matter as long as you apply a
constantly incrementing
pattern.
