hello,

i'm trying to find out if the last 2 buttons on this toolbar work? (the gray arrow buttons on the right)

according to the help system, they are suppose to take you to the next page or the previous page in a report on the preview tab. i also noticed in the help system that the buttons are green.

i can't get either of these buttons to work, so i don't know if there is something wrong with my installation or if i don't know what i'm doing or if it's something else.

any help would be greatly appreciated.
thank you.

You need more than 1 page of data, and the report has to have completed.

Try opening a sample report.

I wonder if you're looking at the arrows in the same "row" as the "start page" tab--those arrows are for navigating between reports, so would do nothing unless you had more than one report open. It is the arrows in the row below that navigate within a report.

hi synapsevampire,

i opened a report that i created that has more than one page of data, as well as a sample report (the custom functions demo) that has more than on e page of data. the last 2 buttons on the navigation tools toolbar still don't do anything.

hi lb,

no, i'm not looking at the arrows that are to the far right on the same row as the start page tab.

i did click on the start page tab with (with having several reports open) and the arrows on the navigation tools toolbar turned green, so i clicked on them.

when i clicked on the "forward" green button, the "show online resources" option on the start page disappears. when i click on the "back" green button, that sow online resources option comes back.

if you have the time, can you type this in on the index tab of the help system "Navigation Tools toolbar"
on the right, the last 2 buttons that you see are the ones that i am referring to. thank you.

Okay, I see what you mean. I can't get mine to turn green either--they appear not to work. Maybe they work only in conjunction when CR is integrated with other software or something? They seem redundant anyway with the next page and previous page arrows.

These buttons become functional only when there are more tabs than shown because you open lots of reports or because you reduced the size of the overall window. They then allow you to navigate between the tabs.

Ido, I thought that was what was being referenced, too, but it isn't. These two buttons are in the toolbar that is above the "row" where the report tabs display (at least in my setup). They look like "fat" arrows, <- and ->, not the usual ones that lack "tails".

I believe that pair of navigation arrows is for "Report Part" navigation. See online help for "What are Report Parts".

hi lb,

ok, as long as they don't work for you, then i know it's not something that i've messed up (smile).

thank you.

hi ido,

i opened 12 reports and made the window smaller based on your message, but that didn't cause the buttons to become active either.

i them looked up "What are Report Parts". i read it, but don't have the html preview features set up, so i couldn't test what the online help was saying.

i thank you for taking the time to do some research on this. i didn't know where to start looking.

thanks again.
