I enabled Remote Connection/VPN on my server. I really don't know too much about this. Is this supposed to diable my firewall? After doing this I could not ping my server by name, but could still get to it using the ip address. To fix this problem I disabled NAT on my router. I also disabled my DMZ on the router.

Can someone tell me if what I have done is safe? I am very new to server2003 so any information you could provide me with would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

I've been doing a little reading on this, and I think what I have done here is not very smart. Can I remove the Remote Access/VPN role and go back to using the firewall? Also when I need to grant remote access can I just add that role back? I know that I should probably be using another server to handle this sort of thing, but I really don't want to do that. Does anyone have any suggestions about this?
