I have a user that recently got married and she would like everything converted over to her new name.

I have a pretty good idea what to do, but I don't want to do something and then her previous files and documents are all gone.

So if someone would help me run thru the process of changing her email in the Exchange server, but she still need to be able to access all the emails from her maiden name.

I hope that this makes sense.

Rename account, make sure account is the same NT/2000/2003 equivalent names. (Pre Win2k name I think is what I mean)

New and old email addresses (Always helps)

Home Directory???

If your just renaming the object that should be it, as all DL's and other permissions get tied to the object etc.

Thats what we do anyways.

Cheers

I understand the renaming of the account.

But with the email on exchange, can I somehow change the alias so that they can still get to all the old mail thru the new email address, without having to copy all the old mail to the new account???

You can add more than one alias to an account, irrespective of the display name in exchange

You won't have to copy anything. Just change the name in ADUC, then add the old email address to the changed emailbox so that they'll receive the email whether it comes to the new name or the old name.

Never mind I figured it out, and the change has been made.

Thanks for all your help.

what did you do to figure this out? I have a user that needs a name change as well. If I keep the old name as is in AD, can I give put the new name in the Alias? Or do I have those backwards? thanks for the help.
