Hi

We are using BE 9.1 and find that during backups Viruscan is scanning all the files being backed up.

This is not a problem out of working hours, but we do run some backups during working hours which means that a large amount of resources are committed to Scanning the files.

As we are using a MS SBS 2003 the server is our only server and is running many apps: SQL server, exchange, ISA - so this can cause performance probs - especially for VPN users.

Is there anyway to stop this (apart from disabling on access scanning) or should I just accept it.

THanks
B

Change the scanning so it only scans inbound.

There are other Anti Virus on the market - for eg. Symantec Anti-Virus where there is an option you can check that will not scan files open for backups.
