Hi there all,
My PC with following config was working fine before:
----
Intel P-3 550MHz
Intel CA810E main board(video + sound)
20GB HDD
128MB SDRAM (64+64)
Other perpherals
-----
Well, I tried to put the aditional RAM (I must have inserted badly!) for installing new OS in short time, and I as I switched on the PC, I smelled some burning and switched it off quickly...
Then i tried to switch it on with my prev config and no power was going to any of the components!!!
Then, I just removed the SMPS (PSU) and get it repaired now after attaching it again my default config is not working at all.
Symptoms:
- PSU fan, CPU fan are working fine
- Motherboard has its own led, that is glowing
- Other perpherals are getting power
- Display is not working (Monitor is going in power saving mode, by blinking led on it)
- No keyboard detection
- No single beep sound from board
- Just led of HDD glowing continues then shutting down after some time
- If i remove RAM, beep sound is comming saying "no RAM"

I think some chips on board must have been fried...!!!!

Any suggestion will be most helpfull..

Thanks,
Nirav

well, if post comes up without ram, but not with ram, then maybe you should try a new stick of ram, it's quite possible you fried both your ram sticks, and that's what's giving you the problems...

--------------------
Procrastinate Now!

Re-seat the processor and re-boot. If that does not do the trick, unplug the HDD leave it unplugged and re-boot. See if it come up then.

Try another PSU, if that doesn't work, then mostlikely it is time to UPGRADE...

Ben

If it works don't fix it! If it doesn't use a sledgehammer...

Maybe the RAM you installed was incompatible with the motherboard. What kind was it? What kind does the Motherboard manual Recommend?

A PIII 550 isnt hardly worth updating or spending much money on.

You might try removing the ram and finding another stick of RAM to test it with.

If you do not like my post feel free to point out your opinion or my errors.

Well,
Thanks all for answering. I have my m/b repaired and working fine now. The support guy said I must have inserted the RAM module 'reversly' :(. So, My RAM ckt was fried!!

Anyway, now it's working fine and thanks again for suggestions..
