Hello all,

got a strange problem with a Compaq DL360R G2 server running NT Server 4 SP6. The event viewer is reporting an event 16 with the source Q57NT4: "Ndis is resetting the miniport driver". This is not occurring in any real pattern but seems to build up in frequency until it peaks at 3 times a minute.

I reported this problem to Compaq who duly replaced the board (the network card is integrated). I wiped and reinstalled the OS (on Compaq's advice) but this has not eliminated the error. Neither Compaq or Microsoft's support sites can shed any light on it.

Could I just be unlucky enough to get two duff boards in a row?

hi,
can it is an environment problem ?
changed patch cord, hub/swithc port, or
simply try with cable not wired ?

The DL360 has two ethernet ports doesn't it?

Have you got drivers installed for both?

Are the drivers the latest version? [auto] MCSE NT4/W2K

Following on from DHawthorns suggestion, have you disabled the network port you are not using? I have noticed that when configuring a DL360 G2 you do get conflicts between the two ports.

In addition have you used the NIC driver supplied by Microsoft, or did you use the one supplied on the Smartstart CD's

Hello all, thanks very much for the responses. In answer to your questions:

I have tested the cat 5 cable and it is fine.

There are two ports on this card but I have disabled the one not in use.

The driver was installed as part of the NT4 installation process after the SmartStart CD had been run.

I will check the Compaq site for updated drivers.
