I have recently installed mySQL (4.0.8-gamma) on my Windows XP Pro SP1 system. The installation went smoothly.
I also installed mySQLcc. After launching mySQLcc, I selected 'new', entered 'myFirstTest' as the name, my computer's name, my user name and password. I left all check boxes set to their default. When I clicked 'test', the system did nothing for about 20 seocnds, then a Windows XP window appeared with the message "mysqld-max-nt.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close..." mySQLcc then opens a window stating "Error 2013: Lost connection to MySQL server during query."
Using the WinmySQLadmin tool, under the my.ini tab, I saw that the 'bind-address' and 'port' were commented out. Uncommenting these had no effect.
Can you please offer some suggestions to help me get this working.
Thank you!
