MySQL with D6

There seems to be problems with the dbExpress components that ship with D6. They will not connect to a MySQL server across the network :-I. This is a problem because I want to use CLX Application in D6 so it is compatible with K1.

Has anyone else had these problems?
Does anyone know of a workaround?
