Hey all,

OK, well... we ALL hate when someone sneaks up on us at work, right? Our office is currently under construction so I'm now sharing a desk. To make matters worse, not only do I have to worry about my OWN boss sneaking up on me, I have to worry about my co-worker's boss sneaking up on me (and consequently her). Today was the last straw.

I've used web cam software in the past iin a surveillence type application where I had a very cheap web cam that was just showing me who was coming and it was BRILLIANT! However, I've never done it on Mac. I know about the iSight because I have one at home, but for work, I'm looking to go cheap. I need:

- Cheapest camera that will work with a Mac to just display what it's seeing
- Software that will do this.

Thanks,

- MT

plastic convex mirror works pretty fine on top of one of the monitors here.

soi la, soi carré

LOL... yeah, I thought about that. Worst case scenerio, I buy one and give it to my wife when the construction is done. I'm not looking to go THAT cheap, but I don't need zoom and 3 CCD's, etc.

Because of construction, you need to place a mat at your door so that dust does not come in to your workarea. The mat can be noisy when stepped on. Find a crinkly material.

I recall the folks in Office Space used their creative intellect to overcome the oppression of the man. Certainly you can be more creative than using a web cam.

No, really, I like Jim's idea. Or if you insist on a techie solution, how about a motion detector at the door to your cubicle that dings when someone goes near.

I seem to remember Logitech made a really cheap webcam.
