Hi there Forum :)

I have just bought a new Compaq Evo N110 Laptop.

Last night I had it on for a while when all of a sudden I started to notice a faint crackling sound.

As time went on it got worse and seemed to tie in with windows activity ie: When I opened up a window the crackling would get worse during the windows activity.

Before I go all guns a blazing, can someone Pse advise me as to what it might be.

Many thanks in advance

Fallyhag

Hmm, Crackling makes me think of awful electrical things...but this surely couldnt be hard disk activity that you can hear?

regards Michael

No, the sound was, in my opinion, due to interference caused by the actions I was doing at the time. eg:

I opened the volume slider and as the window animated open the laptop started to make this horrible "crackling?" interference sound. I then continued to move the mouse etc... and all my actions were causing this sound.

With the laptop cold however it doesnt make the sound.

At the time I was using a USB mouse.

Any advice?

Fallyhag.

Sorry Fallyhag, new to me, the obvious course I
guess, as its new. Take it back.
Michael

I am not sure its the same exactly, but I have had similar sounds when using a mouse on an old laptop I had. A CRX I believe. It was related to the mouse movement. Beyound that, I really never figured out what it was. The laptop was within a day or two of being replaced when it started, so I never looked into it further.

Seems to me that it would quit if I rebooted, and it may have had something to do with the mouse port. Being that you have a USB I don't know. Try a different mouse.
