My Item > Space > Align is grayed out, but I need it

hi,

I am at a part in my tutorial where they want me to space align two circles and a text box. I must have done this 10 times, but every time I go up to item, the space align is grayed out.

What am I missing?

Ok, obvious question first: Are you selecting *all* the items you want to arrange?

No I don't think I was selecting all of the items. It was a text box over a circle and I though it selected both.

But when I selected both the circle and text box, my space align came back.

My grouping of circle and text even worked.
