i have power to the printer but nothing shows up in the led screen, and the scanner bulb is not on

my hp psc 500 will not turn on, what should i troubleshoot first?

apex1x, yes i tried the on button but nothing will happen. i know there is power to the printer, i ohmed out the power adapter, the connecter at the printer. i pulled out the main logic board, and the key pad. they both ohmed out ok too. i don't want to spend money on something that may not be the cause. i would rather get an idea as to what might be wrong before spending money and guessing wildly.
