When I restarted my computer, it wouldnt come back on. It just made a siren noise and showed blackness. After several tries and opening it up it finally did. The comp worked again. Later, i noticed a brownish burn mark on the case cover. It was right next to where the grafix card would be. Sure enuff there was a burn mark on the label on the back of my grafix card. This mark was directly behind a major transisitor =[ ]=. The grafix card appears to function (thank god), but i wanted to know if this ever happened to ne one and if it was still safe to run my comp and if that transisitor =[ ]= is functioning. Oh, and by the way, at the same time my zip drive broke (it goes click click click). Thunder could be heard off in the distance, and like a moron i have no UPS, so, prob what happened? What do you think? Is lightning the cause of my burning grafix card and sick zip drive?

It could be a number of things that caused it..Number one dust is the main cause of computers short circuiting..If you smoke around your computer or have the tower sitting on the florr then it might have dust in it..My suggestion is taking a vaccum and dusting out the inside of your computer (not the monitor) and be careful not to touch and of the boards and be careful of the wires. You might also want to have it looked at by a professional in case more damage was caused and its not visible
