My Comp cant fint my modem!!

Please could you help me?
ON trying to connect to the internet, a message keeps coming up saying that it could not connect to the internet because it could not find my modem.
I have tryed adding the modem again and again with no result. I have even taken the modem out and back in again. My computer finds the modem no problem but it still cant find it when I come to connect to the internet.

Please could you enlighten me to the problem and where I can find what I need to correct it.

I would be most greatful.

Boot to safe mode.
Remove the modem(s) and all COM ports in device manager.
Restart, go into BIOS setup.
Disable com2.
Restart, reinstall. Cheers,
