My Call Pilot black lines on Faxes

Anybody use My CallPilot and view fax messages? If so, have you ever experinced black pages or black lines?

I'm 4.0 everything. I got all the required SU's etc. And still this issue. It seems to only happen on an XP machine going to My Call Pilot (web) and viewing the file. If I use Outlook, Call Pilot folder, the same fax looks good.

Outlook wants to use Call Pilot Player to view the fax.
My Call Pilot wants to use either Windows Picture and Fax viewer or Office Image Viewer. This is where the black pages, black lines, and white pages even sometimes occur.

Any help out there is much appreciated!
 
might get a response in the call pilot forum, i haven't ran into that but i would look at screen resolution, because it is a clean file, so maybe my cp has that adjusted down

There is a patch for it in CP 2.0 but not in 3 and 4.0. I have an open case with nortel with one of my customers on this issue. They have now designed a patch for it in 4.0 which I'm testing at the moment. And it will be GA released on MPL mid may I think. The problem only relates to document and fax viewer included with Win XP in my issue. If you have the latest Desktop Messaging it shouldn't be any problem. This is related to CallPilot using PackBit encoding when converting fax'es to .tiff format. The patch will be called xxxG027S when it's released.

I'm right there too, I asked about the patch to Nortel and they're kinda hush-hush about it. But I sent them my bad looking fax and they're testing in the labs right now with the Patch. I thougt I had the customer all patched up when he was on 2.02 but was still getting the sames issues.

But right now here'e my scenario for FYI: When using My Call Pilot and opening a fax on an XP machine, it defaults to using Picture and Fax viewer. Fax is Bad.
If you have DeskTop messaing and use Outlook, you can open a fax and it will open with "Call Pilot Player" and that same fax looks awesome.

Well thanks all, hopefully Nortel gives me the patch today, wish me luck.

If a patch is still in designer status, is it possible to request it? Or was this made specifically for you only? I cannot wait until mid-May, I'm hoping to get it sooner.

Hi MEZphonetek.

I personally don't mind send you the patch. But I'm just a part of a company that has top level agreements with nortel, and for that reason I feel obligated to not send what's only purposed for us at the moment. As far as I know the patch has solved our customers problems. And they have been waiting months for this patch to be developed. So you'll just have to wait. What I could do is to ask the developers on how far the testing of the patch has comed, and when they expect GA of it.

if you know what the designer patch number is, you can open a case with nortel tac and request it. nortel will verify if the problem you're having will qualify for the patch and provide the patch to you.

designer patches are tracked by nortel as to who has them and what problems/symptom is being reported... installing the designer patch without nortel knowledge or involvment can be real costly...trust me on this one...lawsuit pending
 
sorry guys, I kinda assumed that and in no way do I want to get nobody in trouble.

would it be safe to tell Nortel that I am aware of a designer patch, and can I actually tell them what the number might be when it comes out, or should I just hint around about it?

I feel for my customer as this has been an issue since they were on 2.02.
