MX Woes

Is there requirement that the MX server's domain name
matches the name of the domain that it's MX server for?

It (currently) only seems to be stopping mail send to this domain from mit.edu. Mail is bouncing.
Any ideas?

Don't believe there is any such requirement.

What type of bounce?

I didn't let it get that far - just lots of delays when I update the MX
