I think you have to get the driver from Qlogics web page. The solaris packaged drivers do only work with the Sun QLC HBAs with there own firmware. I don't think there is a qla driver in Solaris 8 anyway (qlc is there).
Of course i have downloaded and installed the driver. I even fully patched the system over the weekend. The FC card is recognized. However it does not find any device at all.
If i install the card in a Windows 2003 machine, everything works like a dream. So i thought it might be a firmware issue.
Are you connected to a fabric? (Maybe a zoning issue or the connection-options of the driver, default is loop-only).
Did you configure WWN bindings or automapping?
As the same cable, connected to a Windows machine can see the hardware, i think zoning cannot be an issue.
Besides installing the hardware and the driver, i di not do anything so far. I don't know whether this is necessary as it has not been mentioned by the QLOGIC install guide. Do you have a brief installation procedure that describes the steps?
From the OK> prompt after you run a reset-all, can you run a probe-scsi-all to see if the device is seen? If it is not see, what is the SCSI Device Number of the 2100F. If the SCSI Device Number is greater than 15, you will need to put entries in /kernel/drv/sd.conf.
