I have a nortel Meridian 8x16. I have an MP-3 plugged in to provide MOH. I can hear the track very well on my side but the callers cannot hear it. Does any one have any suggestions? I am at a loss here.

Thanks - Thom

I have set the programming on the system to play MOH. I can hear the MOH when I select the function on my handset. However, when a person is on hold, they are unable to hear it. I have it punched down on the last station on the 66 block. I have done everything possible with the wires. I am using standard headset wire with it stripped. I am using the center wire to get the signal. I am only using the one wire and when I put the 2nd wire on, other pair, it sounds the same. When I use the ground from the wire and the center wire, I get a bad signal - lots of static. Is there any way to increase the volume on the system? Maybe a setting? I am really stumped here.
Thanks - Thom

O.K., I have to play stupid. This is a basic Nortel Meridian unit. It is a single hang on the wall unit with no extras. Give me a Fujitsu F9600 and I can tell you the difference. Give me a Nortel and I am stupid.

If you are hearing the music sorce thru the phones (background music Feature 86) then it is connected correct.
You cannot control the volume only from the device.
To check put your toner on the MHO input.

I was trying to find a website you could go to showing my phone system. But from what I can see it is an ICS. Learn something new everyday. As for cook1082's question, the signal comes through fine on the phone set when doing Feature 86. So, I know the signal is going through. The saga continues.

You can have background music and not hold music, you must select (on hold) music from the options in programing. It comes right after background music Y-N. the next option is on hold (silence, tones, music)

Silver987 - I had the setting set for Background but not for On Hold. I made the change. Now, lets see what happens. The little things we miss. I will let you know. Thanks. Thom

My clients can hear it now. Thanks for your help. Thom
