Hi everyone,

I have an Access Program divided in Application program and the DB, each user has the application local. It used to work fine, but suddenly the program show the network or disk error, I closed the DB it said that it had a problem so I restore it and since then I can´t access the information from another PC, if I try to access it in a local way it works fine but from another machine i can open it but if I try to create a new record the same error appears and i have to restore it again. I try to create a new DB but then it says that the recordset doesn´t allow new records. I am pretty desperate, please help. Thank´s

More information would be helpful in solving your problem...

From the networking side...
What type of network are you running?
Has anything change - server or OS upgrades, patches applied?
Has there been a change is security / access permissions?

From the DB side...
Does anyone else have administrative access to the DB files?

I would be inclined to research the networking end, and discuss your problem with your friendly, network administrator.

Looks like you don't have write permission on the network folder...

Richard is right, talk to the sysadmin. Or, if the back-end is stored on a workstation on a peer-to-peer network, talk to the 'master' of that workstation and tell him to share the folder with full access rights.

I'm sorry I forgot to change the rights for sharing the folder, eventhough my main problem is that I had the tables in a PC (Windows XP), it worked fine (sorry I`m doing it again de Access version is Access2000) slow but fine, suddenly it apeared the disk or network error I was asked to repair it I agree and since then I can`t make it work I can work in the same computer but when I use the network and I try to add a new record it try to add it for a while and then it collapse (the DB is 2M). It had not been any changes in the network or the OS. Thanks a lot

You don't have write permission. Maybe some programs/firewalls were installed on the file server, preventing you to access the server.
If the db works fine locally, it has no reason to fail on the network, unless it doesn't have the necessary permission. You may also check the integrity of hubs, switches or whatever network hardware devices you have.
