we are running netbackup 5.0 with the vault option on Solaris 8. The library is storagetek L700 with IBM LTO-2 tape drives.

What is the difference between the maximum multiplexing per drive in the storage unit properties and the media multiplexing in the policy schedule? We are using vault to duplicate our tapes, but it seems like it take for every. We do have preserve multiplexing check for duplication. According to vault manual, if you have preserve multiplexing check you should have maximum multiplexing per drive in the storage unit properties on, which we don't. We have the media multiplexing in the policy schedule checked.

Thanks,

Multiplexing/Multistreaming will not work unless it is selected in the Storage Unit, the Attributes of the Policy, the schedule of the policy, and the number of jobs that can run for each client simultaniously in the Global Options.

Hi All,

I have a question similar to this thread but about Multistreaming. Assume all the configuration settings have been done. When the backup schedule kicks in, only one job is active while the other jobs from the multistreaming gets queued eventhough there are available drives and media.

We are using NetBackup 4.5 on Solaris 8. Tape library is the SUN L1800 using DLT7000 tape drives.

Your contribution to the solution will be very much appreciated.

Do you have the Global NetBackup settings set to allow more than 1 job per client?

Also, make sure you allow multiple data stream on the policy itself.
