Excuse the dumb question, but: I need to upgrade InDesign and other suite products from CS2 to CS3 versions (MAC) in order to be in line our home office. At the same time, I work with outside designers who, for whatever reason, are unable to upgrade at this time. With PageMaker, Quark, etc. it was possible to have multiple versions of the same program loaded and accessible...is that possible with InDesign...and what do I need to do during install to make it so? Thanks, in advance, for any help. (We recently lost our only Mac tech support person, so I'm winging it here!)

It is possible, but you have to buy the full version of InDesign CS3 and install it. I have CS2 and CS3 installed here and it's fine.

If you buy the upgrade to CS3 then you can still open CS2 documents. When you're saving you're finished files, you export them to .inx and they will open up in CS2. But there can be slight differences.

Those using CS2 would have to upgrade to the latest patch.

Thanks, Eugene, for responding. It looks like I've been given a full version (Premium). That's good. Are there any "choices" I should look out for as I install...or will I need to reinstall 2 after upgrade is complete.

No, everything should be fine. Just make sure you have the latest update for CS2 and everything will be ok. I think. Make sure to update your CS3 as soon as it's installed.

And in the preferences, unless you're using it, turn off "Version Cue" in the File Handling section of the preferences.

Other than that. You're good to go.

Do note that double clicking icons will open them in CS3 so you may have to open directly from CS2 or specify using the contextual menus.

Thank you again, Euguene... Well, here goes...
