Without setting up multiple mailboxes ... using Outlook 2000 is there a way to send email using a different email address on an Exchange Account - - similar to how it's done with POP3?

The user(s) have an alias in there primary account and can receive and deliver mail to a specified folder via an applied rule.

As long as you have "Send on behalf of permissions" and alter the "From" field for the different account.

If anyone calls and says "I know a little something about computers" just tell them to reformat it.

I can see using Send on Behalf but that would lead me to believe that a user needs a seperate mailbox on Exchange. Right now I'm trying to use the alias in a "send as" role.

As long as the user has Send on Behalf then all they have to do is add the From field and select the name from the GAL.

If anyone calls and says "I know a little something about computers" just tell them to reformat it.

you cannot send with a different address if there is no mailbox for it, period.

Send on behalf gives you sending rights from another account, that is all.

If you need to send from 2 different addresses, you need 2 mailboxes.
