I am in the process of evaluating (i.e. considering purchasing) an 'off the shelve' solution running off a progress database system against others include MS-SQL server and Oracle.

I would like some feedback from anyone that has anything to do with progress running on 2 or more servers (especially servers located in different countries).

I'm very interested in data transfer methods, updating each server with certain datasets, roll-back mechanisms (i.e. in the event of a link going down) etc.

Two methods which i have been made aware of is using Sonic and / or Peer-Direct. Both these methods seem to be transfer mechanisms. How do you deal with data management i.e. rules and rights related to datasets being updated across servers and data transfer validation?

Although the potential vendors supply 'some' information, I would very much like your input, preferable experience based and mostly from those who are currently working on / with progress systems.

This is an 'open' post i.e. i'd like any opinions regarding progress systems or anything related to it.

Looking forward to your opinions!
