I'm setting up remote access for several users via UDP on Terminal Services. XP Pro workstations, Windows 2003 Server. All is well with the exception of Outlook. I'd like the users to only see their personal folders and become the default Outlook user automatically when they logon. I've done a good job of messing this up I think. I'm under the impression that multiple users can share the Outlook that is installed on the server. Am I mistaken? I've got it set so their .pst's are password protected, but they have to manually change the default user, which doesn't asccomplish what I want to do. I've got to make it a simple as possible for all users, and need to get it done TODAY! Any help is greatly appreciated!

I'm assuming you're not using Exchange, since you mention .pst files.

If that's the case, you'll likely need to create a maintenance installation using the Office Resource Kit. With that, you can call it in your startup group or login script, and it will create a profile.

BTW - Keep in mind that .pst files are EVIL, and are not supported on a network share.

i'm a bit surprised
obviously i'm a groupwise person so pst's are evcil to me but hey so is exchange but can you clarify why an ms person is saying this - do you only use ost's or ?

You can't use just .ost files if you're not using Exchange. You'll need to use .pst files. But keep in mind also that there are very simple, free, and easily obtainable tools that will strip passwords off of .pst files in seconds.

Store the .pst file within the TS users' profile so that other users can't get to it, and you should be fine. You'll still need to either manually configure their profiles before they login the first time, or using something like the Maintenance Installation to do it for you.
