Fellow Crystal Readers,

I've looked through 45 pages of Crystal Enterprise threads and while a couple people have hinted about it, I can't find a solution.

I've have a report that has 8 subreports in it. When I view the report in Crystal Reports, I get asked for a username/password only once. Presumably it uses the same information for all the subreports. When I publish and run the report through Crystal Enterprise, I must enter a username/password for EACH sub-report.

Is there a way (perhaps parameters?) to allow each one of the subreports to reuse the username/password?

Thank you VERY much for any help.

Hi rosskus,

I got the exactly same problem and same situation as you. Could you please give me little help after you figure it out?

Thanks in advance!

Ted

Have you set the database user name and password in the database tab for the report in the CMC? Is the "prompt user each time" checkbox unchecked?

I have numerous reports with multiple subreports and databases and have never had this problem.

If the user is required to give a user name and password every time the report is run (DB permissions based on user etc) as opposed to having a reporting type logon that all reports use, I don't think there is a way to get around having to login for each subreport directly. Especially if you are using eportfolio. You could create a form for them to enter the info, and then pass that info to CE to pass to the database (not sure how to do it, just know that you can).

Thanks for your help.

I know we can do that way in CMC. But my situation is we have totally 150 reports which will be running against 3 different Oracle databases in runtime. We cann't manully do the configuration in administration side. That's why I'd better have the code to do it in CSP report calling. I'm sure viewrpt.cwr can do it. Then we should allow to do the same thing too.

Any help will be highly appreciated!

Hi all,

I just want eveybody know there is a solution for this issue. I jus called technical support of crystaldecision. Base on the conversation, the only way to solve subreports logon problem will be purchase another Report Application Server Edition to integrate with CE8.5. RAS provide you ability to customize your own web page in calling report viewer.

I don't like to do this, but seems it's the only safe way.

Cheers!
