Multiple Icons on Taskbar

My taskbar suddenly displayed duplicate Icons.
How can I eliminate the extra Icons.

Pardon? Can you expand on that statement a little please? If you run two instances of the same thing, you get two icons.

On the bottom left of the taskbar after reboot I now have duplicate icons of IE, firefox, show desktop, view channels.

EmilJast - is this more of your XP system (from your other post) - the one you started a second install on?

No this is W98 the other system is XP

I think these are probably Quick Launch (one-click) icons. Right click on the duplicate, then select "delete". Job done.
