Have a single 2003 Exchange server in single AD domain. Just took over another company whose users will be logging onto our domain and receiving our email address i.e. joe.bloggs@abc.com
They want to retain their old email addresses as their primary address as well as having their new one. I have added an alternative SMTP address to their usernames i.e joe.bloggs@olddomain.com and made this the primary. It now appears to any external recipient as still coming from their old address.
Have asked the hosting company of the old domain to alter the MX record for this domain to point to our MX address. We have a mailsweeper appliance in the DMZ which has had the old domain name added to it and routes all mail to the exchange server.
Main question is: Do I have to add anything to the Exchange server to accept this mail addressed to joe.bloggs@olddomain.com or is having it as his primary SMTP address enough.
Cheers JW
