Before I spend half my life trying to do it... is it possible to output to different sound devices at the same time?

Can I play one sound through one sound card and another sound from different card at the same time? say for instance two mp3 files?

any help would be appreciated.

Matt

If you can keep your head while those around you are losing theirs, you obviously haven't grasped the seriousness of the situation

Start a mp3 in Windows media player and then start another in Winamp and you'll see that they'll both play at the same time. You can also do it in VB create multiple instances of the multimedia control and have them start playing diffent mp3's. If you really want to get a good sound going start say 20-30 at the same time:)

"Two strings walk into a bar. The first string says to the bartender: 'Bartender, I'll have a beer. u.5n$x5t?*&4ru!2[sACC~ErJ'. The second string says: 'Pardon my friend, he isn't NULL terminated'."

Is that outputting to different sound devices though?

What I am looking to do is to have speakers connected in the kitchen, running hidden leads back to a pc so I can play music in the kitchen, living room or bath room at the same time (if required).

So if I have a PC with 2 or more sound cards connected to these different speakers I need to be able to output the mp3 files to different devices.

I hope I have explained it well enough.

Here's a sample project to look at:

Detect and Use Multiple Sound Cards

"Two strings walk into a bar. The first string says to the bartender: 'Bartender, I'll have a beer. u.5n$x5t?*&4ru!2[sACC~ErJ'. The second string says: 'Pardon my friend, he isn't NULL terminated'."

Perfect. Thank you!
