Multiple analog TN's sharing same DN Maximum??

I am trying to determine if there are a maximum number of analog tn's that can share a DN (I need 10-12). Thought about Group call, but the orginating station won't necessarily be a digital set. Also, when that DN is dialed, are there a maximum number of tn's that can answer and all be on the call at the same time (like a party line). This is an application for a "blast call" scenario, in a campus environment, where numerous security posts can be notified immediately in case of emergency. Not sure if the maximum number is tied to a conference circuit or not.

Also, I can't seem to locate an explanation in Nortel's documentation (Surprise, surprise!!)

Maybe the easiest thing to do is put multiple phones all on the same TN. Works great, been doing it for years.

Have you found any limitation on how many can be added on the same DN?

It would be a limitation of the TN, not the DN. If you are using electronic ringers I would say several.

Group call can be analog or digital. Both as an origonator and a reciever.

Let's fast foward a second: If you planned on making all the analog phones the "same number" then you would have instantly justified they be digital phones. Why? Cause you would have to add a second phone at each analog location for them to make and recieve normal calls....You probably can't have everyone on one big party line. An analog TN can one be one DN at a time.

Actually, there already is a phone at each of these locations. This is being used as a secondary means of communication.

Let's back up - so is there a limitation as to how many different and unique TN's we can have with the same DN. AND, when a call is placed to the DN, how many simultaneous TN's will be connected? Do conferencing come into play here? I may just have to test it and report back my findings. Thanks for the quick responses...

The general rule is 30 appearances (on large systems like floor mounted IPE based cabinet systems) or 15 appearances (on small wall mounted systems, like Option 11) of one DN in the system. But since you can tie five analog phones to one TN, you could get 150 phones to be the same DN. 30 TNs x 5 phones per TN = 150

When a call is placed to the DN that appears on many TNs, it consumes conference slots as additional TNs answer and join the call. It is unlikely you are going to have any problems if you're only talking about 12 phones, and the call is a rare occurrence.

If these analog phones are a secondary means of communication, you can kiss that goodbye if you make them all the same DN. It will be one big party line. I would not change them at all. You have the perfect application for Group Call. You create a (LD 57) Flexible Feature Code that links to the group. Then any phone, analog or digital can dial that code and ring all the phones in the LD 18 Group Call List. Open the books to the Features sections and navigate to "G".
