Greetings, just a quick question.

I know it's possible to have multiple MX records, so that in the event of failure on the primary line/server, the second will be used. Is this possible with A records, too?

Thank you in advance if anyone can steer me in the right direction.

Russell.

Carlsberg don't run I.T departments, but if they did they'd probably be more fun.

You can have multiple A records, but each alias must be configured to a different IP Address.
This is used for 'DNS Round Robin', or load sharing.

As with secondary MX records, there must be a server running on the alias IP address to receive the incoming connection.

Brilliant, that's exactly what I wanted to hear. Thank you, SjrH.

Just to make sure you did not "hear what you wanted to hear"..........

That does not provide redundancy if one of the two drop. It only provides a 50/50 shot of hitting a working IP...............

Ah I see, thank you for correcting me this, anawrocki.
