Multi Currency Functionality

I have a situation I have not been able to find addressed on any other forum including this one.

Has anyone on this forum dealt with multi currency functionality in any application you've created or worked with?

I have created a contract management system and I have a need for multi currency funtionality. I have some questions about ways to make reports, forms etc show in either the rate the document was written in or in the US Dollars amount if it as written in say Canadian dollars. There are some way I have thought of but it requires me writing formulas in either the query or report to show the value in USD or the base rate. There has to be a simplier way. Writing a function to do this would be great but I am at a loss today about where to begin.

For know any random thoughts or general ideas would be helpful but if you have any specific ideas don't hold back. Remember the Past, Plan for the Future, yet Live in the Now for tomorrow may never come.

It seems that you would need a table of exchange rates for various countries. Your function would take the amount in the starting currency, the country of the starting currency, and the country of the ending currency. (It would be a lot easier if one of the currencies was always the same and all other calculations were against it. Let's say USD to Canadian or Canadian to USD but not Canadian to DM) Find the rate in the table and do the multiplication. If you have both currencies variable, compare each to a fixed currency and calculate the factor and multiply.
