I want to produce three copies of a single invoice using Crystal Reports. The only difference between the three is that I want the first to say, e.g. "file copy", the second, "customer copy" and the third "accounts copy" somewhere on the document header of footer. Can I do it easily?

The easiest (but not necessarily fastest) would be to create three separate reports, and put the second and third into the first as subreports. The down side is that it will take three times as long to run.

CR will let you print multiple copies of a report, but only if they are identical.

I've got exactly the same problem to solve.
My first idea was a calculated field in the page header using a case statement with the pagenumber function field as the case test. Then I said "print 3 copies". Doesn't work because it only ever prints page 1 3 times at the printer. If there was a copy number field it might work.

I'll try the same report embedded as sub three times with the case statement trick. But I've already got subs in my Invoice and I don't think you can hve nested sub reports.

Seems incredible Crystal doesn't support a simulation of tractor-fed NCR printing though

A workaround we've sometimes used in this situation is to print forms on multi-colored sets of paper, pre-collated from the paper supplier. For example, a three copy invoice would print on a white page, a goldenrod page, and a green page. The multi-colored sets of paper are preprinted with letterhead/logo information. The type of copy--"Customer Copy", "File Copy", "Finance Copy"--is preprinted at the bottom of their respective pages. The invoice is then printed as three copies of the same report onto these pre-collated pages, and the combination of professionally printed letterhead with a nice looking Crystal Report invoice produces a form that the clients are proud to send out.

Hello,
I am having this same problem. I need to print my invoices 3 times with a different indentifier on each. We already have several boxes of the invoice paper and it would be a terrible waste to have to order more paper just to add one little line at the bottom.

My invoice report is rather complex with 2 groups and 5 different details sections. As well as 2 subreports. I am willing to take the subreports out if I can get this to work...

However, I have been attempting to add a copy of my report as a subreport but have yet to get the info to display properly.

Does anyone have any suggestions of a good spot to place the subreport in order for the info to display properly three times?

Thanks!

Thread149-605835 might be helpful. In general, you probably want to link the subreports to the main report by invoice number, and assuming you have grouped on the invoice number, you would place the subreports in separate group header or footer sections "b" and "c" with "new page before checked" for each section and for the group section "a" which contains the data from the main report.

Using the above subreport procedures I now have a 3 page invoice with the 3rd page displaying without dollars. Thank you all. Now my problem is invoices with multiple pages do not collate properly. Because I'm only printing 1 copy of the report there isn't any collate option on the printer.
Is there a formula or some other way I can get a 2 page invoice to print Pg1, Pg1, Pg1 then Pg2, Pg2 Pg2?

Have a look at: faq149-3226
I think it provides a simpler and more flexible solution.
