MTA is Unreliable

Hi all,

Is anyone able to tell me why the message transfer agent is so unstable? It seems that at least once a week I have to stop and start the service when external mail is being received.

Also, the agent seems to fill itself with 'Directory Services' messages as well. What are these?

Any help would be gratefully received.

Try adding a lmhost file and reapplying the latest sp for nt. I had a similar problem and MS tech support had me remove tcp/ip from the network control panel and reinstall nt sp6 and then the MTA cleared out. They didnt have a reason why it was happening tho. Good Luck.
