MSysDb error

I have a database that appears to open and run fine. I am having a problem creating a back-up disk. It starts to copy and then gets stuck/freezes at 10 sec. Recently the copied DB shows the following error when trying to open.
"Microsoft Jet database engine could not find the object 'MSysDb'" I tried compacting and repairing the copy on the C: drive database, I tried formatting a new disk.

So far the main database works fine with none of these errors it is only the copy on CD that has this error and now it won't copy at all.
