I cannot start MSSQLServer service on my local SQL server automatically with with 'sqlservice' logon account. This logon works on two other SQL servers and worked last night on the local machine. I can start the service locally when I use another administrative logon. I am getting error...

Services

Could not start the MSSQLServer service on \\ECMDB.
Error 0005: Access is denied.

Again, I only get this error on one server when I use 'sqlservice' account, not on the other two SQL servers.

Please help.

Is this SQLService user account a member of the Domain Users account? I'm assuming you are using an NT box of some sort. Go into your User Manager for Domains and see what groups that account belongs to. I hope this is helpful.
