Can anyone tell me why SQL server 2000 requires IE5?

Yes thats where the Help is. And Books on-line.
It is much easier to create a Help file in HTML than the Old way. And since IE 5 supports Active X you have a unlimited powerful Help system.
Also rather than you vieing information in a static Notepad document. If you viewed it in a HTML dcoument you could jump to hyperlinks on a WEB site for more input.

So the new standard for all future Microsoft Software is IE 5.0 . DougP, MCP

Thanks a lot Doug!

IE is also used by the Enterprise Manager, for instance while presenting information for a database. Right click the detais pane to see the HTML source.
