Attention all developers who have worked on CTI apps with Avaya.

I have proposed the use of an Avaya CTI server with a MAP-D card in order to allow us to integrate the switch into an upcoming internal software package that we wish to perform screen pops from with customer data.

I have encountered some resistance in my use of CTI and consuming their API's from the higher ups... And I would like to obtain you opinions on the matter.

Please feel free to share past experiences or opinions.

Here are the issues:

Proposed project requirements:
Obtain entered digits from customer.
Pull customer info based on digits entered.
Make customer info available to rep on answer event.

Current Spec:
Custom C++ & .Net backend components.
Avaya CTI Server (for using API's to G3V11).

Question:
Based on your past experience... Please rate the following based on the above project requirements.

1) Use heavy weight app such as Edge that requires dedicated server, propritary client, and Oracle license. No source code or API's are made available for integration into private apps within our company.

2) Use Microsofts new MSS Speech Engine w/ Intel dialogic boards. (Works very similar to old WTE design from microsoft)

Please note that Microsoft JUST released this as version 1 from beta and salt is also in version 1.

Also uses SALT v1.0.
Reference at: Just enter bogus info to review above slide show.

3) Use basic Avaya CTI and consume their API's on the back end using our own internal custom code.

Please share what you opinions are regarding the following:

a) Vendor conflicts or support issues when mixing Avaya and other CT servers.

b) Your opinion of costs.

c) Your opinion of customization with each solution and/or manpower.

d) Your personal opinion of what you would use if it was you.

e) Any other data you wish to share.

As soon as you guys can reply the better. I am looking forward to hearing from you.
