Hi,

My friend is trying 'Remote Assistant' so that I can help in solving some issue in his PC. I accept the request, but later it never gets connected. The message 'Check network or remote end cancelled' appears...

I am using wireless internet connection and so is my friend. ISP is terminating on a home-router.

Any resolution?

Thanks
Zi

Which version of MSN Messenger are you using, is it the 8.1 Beta in both machines?

What firewalling (including hidden firewall components in virus scanners) are on both machines?

Remote Assistance won't connect

It is not working... there are no firewalls...

Need to connect urgently...

Is there any scribblepad through which I can teach my friend maths/symbols through this remote assistance?

Thnks for ur help

You can get a third party remote software installed, VNC is free and very easy to use.

Also, you mention you are using wireless routers, make sure your friend has TCP/IP port 3389 forwarded on his router otherwise you won't get in. You'll need to do the same for the ports 5800 and 5900 on VNC if you use it.

Just a couple of options for ya...

Cheers
Rob

A new update to MSN Messenger to version 8.1.0178 was released yesterday, you could get it from the Messenger Live site and try your luck with that. If you have XP's Windows Messenger installed you could try using that. You could even try NetMeeting which is installed in XP and resurrected by typing "Conf" in the Start Run box. I'm not sure that it has a "whiteboard" facility like the first two.
