Hi there,

I updated MSN messenger to version 6.2, ofcourse I accepted too fast which enabled toolbars that I do not want. I tried to uninstall it and reinstall it without checking that I wanted to toolbars but this did not work. I also downloaded spybot and adaware and these also didn't get rid of them. Also researched the net and couldn't find any other solution.

Please let me know if you know how I can get rid up these.
There is a toolbar at the top and a blue one at the bottom and several popup ads.

Thanks in advance for any help.
Stephanie.

Doesn't sound like MSN software did this, sounds like spyware.

1. Make sure spybot and ad-aware are up to data, then scan again.

2. Try other tools, such as hijackthis, spysweeper, pestpatrol. Some don't remove the problems unless you pay for them, but at least it will help identify the problems.

3. I have found scanning in safe mode will eliminate those pests that keep coming back, because they are memory resident, might try this.

4. Inspect add/remove programs for any new applications, or applications that you don't recognize, these can be spyware too, I suggest looking to uninstall them.

Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.

There is only 1 toolbar MSN will propose, and that is the ... MSN Toolbar.
You can unistall that one, or disable it in IE - Tools - Manage Add-ons
