Are there advantages to using the MSDE that comes with Access over the standard MDB. From what I have read its a limited SQL server correct? I have a multiuser database with 10-15 users at 3 facilities run on our "tempermental" lan. Should I look into this? What are the drawbacks? Zorro

The beauty of SQL and Baby SQL (MSDE) is that you pass a SQL string to the server, and only the results are returned. In contrast, when you run a front end-back end all Access Database, all of the records are brought across the wire and processed at the cleint.

SQL back ends are a little more finicky as far as cursor type, primary index (No index, no add or change) etc.

I'd look into it. Tyrone Lumley

MSDE is very nice for small user groups that need SQL capabilities. Your group of 10-15 users is about as big as I'd go with MSDE. The limitation on MSDE DB size of 2GB is the same limit that an Access MDB has.
