Is there an msconfig equivalent for Win 95? How do I remove unwanted programs from loading at startup? programs like atitask.exe, disknag.exe, realplay.exe, etc. which reside in memory and take up resources. These are not listed in the start up folder.

There is no msconfig, or anything like it in win95. Your only choice is to edit the registry.

Go to start>run and type regedit.
BEFORE making any mods to the regestry, make a backup copy of it by clicking on file, export. Save it somewhere you can find it, example My Documents folder. Give it a name you will remember.

The path for startup items is:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Software>Microsoft>Windows>Current Version>run
Click on the run folder. Anything you do not want to run at startup, highlight and hit the delete button on the keyboard.
Be EXTREMELY CAREFUL. Editing the regestry is the simplest way I can think of to mess up windows.
