MS word spontaneously opens

I have one user whose MS Word opens numerous times daily. It always opens a new blank word document. Although I feel certain another program is calling on Word to open, she can't determine a pattern on when it happens or which program might being starting Word. Is there a log that might point me in the right direction?

By any chance could it be her email client (is Word set to be the default mail editor)?

Word is probably set as the default email editor but this happens when she isn't using Outlook. It is open but minimized so I was looking for difinitive proof that Outlook is causing the problem before I start troubleshooting why Outlook would do this.

I don't know of any way to get definitive proof, other than temporarily removing Word as the default mail editor (set back to Outlook default).

Another tack to take -- see if the user has an ATI videocard. If so, see if HydraVision is installed as part of ATI's drivers. If so, disable it and then remove it (it won't harm the drivers).

HydraVision can do all sorts of awful things to MS Office XP and 2003, and I have in fact seen it do this exact thing before in one particular case.
